100% compatibility with NES, SNES, Genesis, Famicom, GameBoy, GB Advance, and GB Color. HDMI output, upscaling, interpolated audio resampling, Bluetooth controller and Genesis controller port... $100, later this spring.
I want it. Hope it's not vaporware. My friend's Hyperkin RentroN 3 is pretty sweet, though. I think it's on the way.

Does it work with duckhunt on a plasma tv? That would be awesome.

Retron's are cool, but their emulation is definitely not 100%. Unless they've totally rewritten their code (doubtful) you'll find lots of little differences. The entire sound design for the Genesis is really off putting for someone who grew up with them. I have a 3 and will probably pick this up for the GBA support. The Tom's article doesn't state it, but I believe it's also going to have an SD slot which will ostensibly be used for save games but will probably be modded immediately to play ROMS making this the easiest way ever to emulate with the original controllers. If that happens this will go from a probably buy to a must buy.

I like it if i works better than this thing did. I bought one and it worked for exactly 1 hour. I took it back to the game shop I bought it at and traded it for a NES w two controllers, a zapper, and a few games. I still have the NES hooked up to my TV three years later. It works perfectly fine.

According to what I've read, they DID totally rewrite the emu software for not just video filtering and interpolation enhancements, but to also render original audio as intended, with the option for 5.1 output. Seems pretty sweet. Right now I just have some emu software on my laptop and my Wii virtual console (all I use my Wii for these days), neither of which is as cool as this. We have a GREAT local chain of retro game shops here called Game Over. I can get carts for $3-10, depending on title. They also stock some Famicom games. I still have boxes of old games though, as well as hundreds of ROMs. This thing would be PERFECT if it works as advertised. I wonder if it's possible to hack the OS to add patches for Japanese to English translations though?

Good question. As I understand the hardware the original light gun games won't work with new televisions. Hmm.

I think Hyperkin's stuff is of much higher quality. I was talking to the manager of Game Over (local retro gaming store here in Austin) and he said in his experience with the three Hyperkin systems he's personally owned, their quality is MUCH higher than the Yobo systems.

Cool, hopefully they've got the sound correct. That would be great.
Another place where they have the emulation wrong on the current one is with the slowdown. I notice it particularly on NES titles. There is slowdown in places where it wasn't on the original hardware, and isn't slowdown in places where there should be. Hopefully they've got that straightened out as well.
I still have my original consoles hooked up to an old CRT, but I use these multi cart things on my main TV. They're much more convenient than using the old RF box like I had to a few years ago.

Yeah, that's what I learned, I read up on it not too long ago and it is actually quite ingenious how they made that came work.

Negative. It will work with the lightgun on a CRT though. You can get them free off craigslist all day long if you don't have one sitting around.

Yeah, I know. I was hoping the Retron would come up with a method to make it work.
I actually researched recently how the lightgun works, it's quite ingenious how they made it work with the limited tech they had.

This is why I still have my old TV in the basement with my NES hooked up to it. So I can duckhunt...or...drunkhunt. Also fun.
I actually have an N64 hooked up to the same tv too. Becuase why not?

I've been waiting for this for awhile now, as NES games for whatever reason won't play through my projector. Hopefully this will be a workaround. Plus I never had a SNES. Just wish it did N64 as well.

Cool. I have a bunch of emulator's on my phone and comp for classic games, but it's just not as good as sitting on the living room floor three feet from the TV with a proper rectangular, or three pronged controller.

No emu system will ever have the same tactile sensations as playing the real system. If we ever move and I get my own office, I will have a CRT and a console collection.

I still have a CTR TV it's a 42" but CTR. The best thing is I can still play Duckhunt. :)
